John Flaxman (1755–1826) was an English sculptor and draughtsman, closely tied to the Neoclassical movement. In the early 1790s, while living in Rome, he was commissioned by Thomas Hope to produce a series of outline drawings illustrating the Iliad and Odyssey. These were engraved and published in Rome in 1793.
